Bank robbery in Ludhiana

On April 14, 1988 at about 11:15 AM, a Co-operative bank vehicle was coming back to the head office after its daily collection from the other branches in district Ludhiana. When the vehicle reached near the Municipal Corporation office, Ludhiana, two motor cycle borne terrorists came in front of the van to stop it and started firing. The driver of the van ran away but Constable Iqbal Singh and Constable Gurmeet Singh, who were sitting in the rear cabin of the van succumbed to the bullet injuries while fighting with the terrorists. The terrorists escaped with over Rs. one million of  booty.
