| On July 24, 2000, a private bus was almost full to its capacity. When it reached Ballan village, near Jalandhar, a powerful bomb explosion took place which is supposed to be the handiwork of dreaded Punjab terrorists. According to reports, the blast was caused by a high-explosive device like RDX or PETN. With an intention to cause more damage, the terrorists had mixed the explosive with a petroleum gel. As a result of which the bus also caught fire after the blast, which is supposed to be the major cause of deaths. As many as seven persons died, and 25 got injured in this wild act of terrorism. |  Ill-fated bus
