Amritsar is generally a crowded city. The city of Golden Temple with its historic and religious importance. It was a warm May morning of 1992, around 11 A.M. A Punjab government minister Maninderjit Singh Bitta was on an official trip to Amritsar, along with his security personnel. He was traveling in his vehicle. When it reached near an ice factory, a powerful bomb explosion took place in a car parked on the roadside. There was a sudden confusion in the market which was crowded with people. In this explosion seven innocent persons who were near the site died, and as many as 48 got injured. There was a big loss of property and even some cart horses were killed. Bitta just escaped a bid on his life and got seriously injured. |
