On Feb., 17, 1992, Punjab terrorists planted a cycle bomb in the busy vegetable market in Khanna town. This device exploded at around 7.20 a.m. Killing one person and injuring 8 others. Asbestos sheets of the roof of vegetable market and a light commercial vehicle were also damaged.
In this incident, a well contrived explosive device in which explosives were packed in the hollow pipe frame of the cycle, with nuts and bolts for missile effect, was planted in the busy market and this RDX Device was exploded through cordless remote control. The time and place choosen was a busy time in the wholesale vegetable market and the target was common publicmen to cause wide spread insecurity and scare.
